Food for Thought

The Brief

As parents and educators, we all know how important it is to teach children about nutrition and healthy eating habits. Fudge was commissioned by CHCP, an organisation providing a wide range of health and care services across the North West of England, to create an innovative and fun animated educational series that teaches 7 to 11 year olds about the importance of good nutrition and how to make healthy food choices.

Meet Freddy

Is it a bird, is it a plane?

Nope. That's a fork!? Freddy is a normal stainless steel fork who lives in Belle's kitchen. An aspiring chef, he's humble, kind, and always puts the needs of others before his own. But once Freddy transforms into The Fantastic Fork he's unstoppable in the face of danger and is able to unleash incredible abilities including super-fork strength, speed and agility.

Sure, he's no knife . . . but his wits are razor sharp! And, just like the tines that sit atop his disproportionately large head, his mission to help children to make healthy food choices are anything but pointless. The Fantastic Fork must use all of his strength and skill to thwart his nemesis, Count Spatula, from depriving the children of good nutrition information.

Cool as a Cucumber

Fudge created a series of seven exciting Avengers-style adventure episodes and a cast of relatable superhero characters that our 7-11 year old audience could be entertained and inspired by.

Our stories take place in Belle's Kitchen and feature an ensemble of utensils who live and work there. The main character, Freddy (a.k.a The Fantastic Fork), and his trusty sidekick, Captain Corkscrew, lead the Healthy Heroes team, as they work together to thwart the efforts of the mischievous utensils led by the artful and infamous Count Spatula.

Character Development

Good design is much like a balanced diet. . . It's all about getting the right ingredients in the right proportions! This creative mixed media animation treatment uses traditional and rigged 2D animation and stock photography backgrounds. This mix of styles provides a visually engaging experience for the target age range but the live action environments also help to ground the lessons in the real world.

Artboard

“As soon as we had awarded the contract to Fudge, we were confident that we had made the right decision! From our first contact with the team to the end of the production, we have found Fudge to be a highly creative, enthusiastic and responsive agency who care deeply about the quality of work produced. As this was an unfamiliar environment for City Health Care Partnership CIC, Fudge’s advice and expertise has been invaluable and they have repeatedly gone the extra mile. It has been a pleasure to work with them.”
